Lizette Melendez joined the Science Education Department as the Program Coordinator in January 2016. She is responsible for many logistical tasks pertaining to the Science Adventure Lab, Mobile Laboratory Coalition, Career Exploration Field Trips, and STEM Internship. In preparation for field trips and school visits, she communicates with teachers and ensures they receive necessary materials. Lizette enjoys providing students with resources to succeed in the classroom.

Lizette received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Anthropology and Global Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Washington. Prior to joining this team, Lizette had been a part of Seattle Children’s for 3 years. She began as an intern in the Marketing and Communications Department after her first year at UW and then transitioned to the hospital for clinical experience. Her unique exposure to families in the community and clinical settings, sparked her passion for STEM education outreach.

When Lizette is not at work you will find her playing or watching sports, visiting her favorite restaurants, spending time with friends, and going on spontaneous adventures.
